STEP 1. EARN YOUR CERT IV in RESIDENTIAL DRAFTING (CPP40121)

The Cert IV in Residential Drafting gives you the skills you need to be able to create the drawings you need for Concept right through to Council and Construction Drawings.

HOW LONG WILL THE COURSE TAKE?

The course is structured to take 9 months for Full Time study (approx. 20 hrs per week), or 18 months (approx. 10 hrs per week) for Part Time study. However, the time can be easily shortened if you can allocate more time to it. 

YOU WILL DEVELOP THESE SKILLS:

• How to read typical drawings produced by designers and consultants for building projects
• How to apply Australian drafting conventions and standards to the production of building design drawings
• How to use one of the leading 3-D BIM capable software programs – either ArchiCAD OR Revit
• How you can apply file management processes to building design projects
• Standard Australian construction materials and construction systems and building services
• How to source information for building approvals processes with Local Government Authorities (LGAs)
• How to source information in the Building Code of Australia (BCA) and Australian Standards (AS)
• Key architectural styles and movements and their relevance in Australian design

As a part of the course you will be creating drawing sets that can be used in a portfolio that you can show to potential employers and/or clients.

WHICH WILL ENABLE YOU TO:

• Prepare concept drawings for your clients
• Prepare Planning Applications for Council
